Cleantech Ideas from Switzerland

The ClimateLaunchpad competition is looking for cleantech business ideas from Switzerland.

ClimateLaunchpad is a European Union initiative for the development of innovations in the areas of climate and environment. The initiative seeks to encourage clean technology business concepts through an international competition. Interested startup founders may register until May 28th, 2016.

Cleantech

The European Union, along with ClimateLaunchpad, part of Climate-KIC, supports the development of new approaches in stemming worldwide climate change and conserving natural resources.

ClimateLaunchpad Competition in Switzerland

The Cleantech startup competition was held in Switzerland for the first time last year. The goal is to promote many candidates with persuasive business concepts at home. In 2015, Switzerland achieved the third best result of all 25 European countries, with 35 applicants. A “Shortlist” was then made of 12 teams, whose ideas were further developed and refined during six training sessions and a two-day “Bootcamp” in the Stellwerk at Basel. The mentors and specialists of the jury were gathered from the Startup Academy network and from Climate-KIC.

Tackling the Challenges of Climate Change

This year the competition is open to anyone in Switzerland with a concept on how to better master our current environmental challenges (click here to register). These ideas can, but don’t have to be worked out in detail. Furthermore the ClimateLaunchpad Competition offers professional support. The competition is looking for sustainable cleantech business ideas in the fields of energy, water, waste, transportation, behavioural changes and urban development. The concept must seek to tackle the challenges of climate change.
