Commercial Register new entries in April 2016 show strong growth of 3.6% compared to the same period for the previous year. In total, 3,530 companies were entered into the Commercial Register. April saw a decline of 2.3% in comparison with a strong start-up month of March. more

A subsidiary branch has insufficient legal personality to have legal action to execute against it, so it cannot be sued or prosecuted at its own offices. However, the entry of a subsidiary branch into the Commercial Register means that an action can be brought against the main branch. more
Operating premises derives from tax law and is wider than the concept of the subsidiary branch. As a rule of thumb, every subsidiary branch is an operating premises, but not every operating premises is a subsidiary branch. more

International taxation affects companies that operate with several subsidiary branches in different countries. Tax will be liable in each of these countries. In order to avoid double taxation, Switzerland has concluded double taxation agreements with other countries. more

In order to avoid double taxation, both total income and total assets will be divided between the main and secondary tax domiciles. When a business operates several branches at various locations in Switzerland, it will be liable for the tax in these cantons or regions. more

The ClimateLaunchpad competition is looking for cleantech business ideas from Switzerland. ClimateLaunchpad is a European Union initiative for the development of innovations in the areas of climate and environment. The initiative seeks to encourage clean technology business concepts through an international competition. Interested startup founders may register until May 28th, 2016. more
More new companies were entered in the Commercial Register for March 2016 than for the previous month, which itself saw high numbers of new registrations. The overall results for Q1 2016 show a 1% increase in registrations compared to the same period for the previous year, thus demonstrating the buoyancy of the Swiss economy. more
