Vouchers as a gift for Christmas

Gift vouchers for Christmas – now a classic. No wonder, after all they offer a lot of advantages, for customers as well as for companies.

Socks are yesterday’s news: they’ve long been replaced by vouchers as the most popular Christmas gift in Switzerland. Whether it be books, clothes or jewellery – today, recipients may choose their gift themselves. Vouchers are also very much in demand in the gastronomy sector. However, the reasons are less to be found in laziness or poor interpersonal relationships. In fact, vouchers offer a lot of advantages, both for the recipient and for the shop that issues them. And last but not least, both sides are spared, for example, the rush to exchange gifts, which happens every year in the days and weeks after the holidays.

Profit through vouchers

A few figures indicate that the voucher business is an extremely lucrative one. For example, the value added is up to five times the amount of the voucher, so customers spend an additional four times as much money. In addition, the rate of unredeemed vouchers after one year is around 33%, and even significantly higher at low values. For companies, this effectively means money for nothing. Besides these monetary aspects, however, vouchers are also a profitable tool for your company on other levels. On the one hand, you increase the awareness of your brand and gain new customers with trust. Because giving a voucher is also a recommendation for the shop or restaurant.

Design and layout

In principle, you have two options when designing your voucher cards: Put either a (Christmas) motif or your company in the foreground. Decide on a design that fits the theme, but don’t forget to include your logo, address and other important details such as opening hours. Or you can directly point out to the customer where they can redeem the voucher by designing the cards in your corporate layout. In this case, you can also use and issue them without them being tied to occasions such as Christmas. Whatever you decide: Make it clear what the card is about and print “voucher” or “gift” clearly on it.

Voucher variants

In addition to classic vouchers that come in a paper enclosure, you can basically use just about anything as a voucher. Plastic cards, for example, are an option that customers can carry around in their wallets for a longer period of time due to their robustness. For example, use the signature field to enter the amount manually. Tip: You can also have plastic cards finished with hot foils. For example, discreetly designed plastic cards with golden hot foil look particularly festive. Greeting cards, which you can print freely according to your wishes, are of course also ideally suited. Alternatively, in the FLYERALARM online shop you can also find Christmas cards already pre-made with festive motifs, the inside of which you can print not only with happy wishes, but also with a voucher text.

Oh, and if you don’t opt for vouchers after all, but prefer giving haptic attention in the form of small gifts, then of course your brand logo should still not be missing. Simply design your own individual gift packaging or have Christmas gift tags printed.
