Swiss Technology Award 2014
On 20th of November, the 9th Swiss Innovation Forum opened its doors at the Congress Center in Basel. During this event three innovative Swiss start-ups were awarded the Swiss Technology Award 2014. The Winners are Aeon Scientific, NeuroGyn and Cendres + Métaux.
Winners of the Swiss Technology Award 2014
The Swiss Innovation Forum awarded for the 26th time the Swiss Technology Award. This technology prize goes to Swiss companies, universities and technical colleges and universities with cutting edge innovations and developments of Swiss companies, universities and technical colleges. Assessed during two rounds 15 jury members looked at the 100 applications to then finally announce three winners in three categories: “Start-up”, “Inventors” and “Sustainability Leader”. The winners are:
- Aeon Scientific in the category “Start-up”: The product – the Aeon Phocus – is complex control unit for cardiac catheterization to treat cardiac arrhythmias. The catheters are controlled using a patented magnetic technology to go into the ventricles. Aeon Scientific won the STARTUPS.CH Award back in 2012 and since then has really taken off.
- NeuroGyn won the category “Inventors”: NeuroGyn developed a surgical technique to place microelectrodes on the pelvic nerves. This technique can be applied to do effective neuro stimulation when treating abdominal pain or bladder problems.
- Cendres + Métaux won in category of “Sustainability Leader”: By placing a vascular access by the bone, Cendres + Métaux developed a simpler, more durable way to do hemodialysis (blood filtering, which is used in renal failure).
The prices are a individual configuration of what the winners actually need and can be set around the areas of sales, marketing and communications.
“The competition is a fundamental principle of innovation in Switzerland,” said Economy Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann in his opening speech. Competition would ensure that quality and performance interspersed.
