Report on Company Foundations for March 2022
A total of 4,661 businesses were founded during March 2022 in Switzerland. This represents a slight decrease compared to March of the previous year, but an increase compared to February 2022!
Good 1st quarter 2022
With a total of 4,661 new companies founded throughout Switzerland, March 2022 was the second best March since STARTUPS.CH began publishing its monthly reports. The previous record of 5,047 new companies was reached last year in March 2021.
Despite a decrease of -7.65% compared to March 2021, a growth of +10.40% was recorded compared to the previous month.
All regions show growth
All regions show growth compared to the previous month, but North-Western Switzerland stands out with a growth of +19.43%. Ticino came second with +14.92%. French-speaking Switzerland is in third place (+11.36%), followed by Zurich with an increase of 9.40%.
Slight decrease compared to the previous year
Compared to March 2021, all Swiss regions recorded a decline business incorporations.
The region of North-Western Switzerland was the most affected (-11.87%). In Ticino, the number of new businesses decreased by -9.57% and in Zurich by 9.99%. French-speaking Switzerland recorded a slight decline of -2.03%. Only the cantons of Graubünden (+3.88%), Obwalden (+33.33%), Geneva (+1.76%) and Valais (+7.88%) recorded an increase compared to the previous year.
