Many foreigners are confident enough to attempt a business start in Switzerland

In Switzerland, many foreigners have taken on self-employment by starting their own business. The migrants of the first and second generation account for a considerable amount of new business starts.

It has become markedly more common for foreigners to start a company in Switzerland. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2012 confirmed this fact in with its findings. First generation migrants showed a foundation rate of 9.1%, which is significantly above the 5% among Swiss. Also the second generation migrants show such a higher propensity with a respectable 8%.

Little fear of failure

The fear of failing in a business venture has drastically gone down in the past few years. In 2012, the fear of failure fell to a level that was comparable to that of the United States of America. With this, Switzerland and the United States have taken top positions in the global rankings.
Also women are more frequently starting businesses.  No open market and innovation based economy in the world has better ratios between male and female entrepreneurs.
When it comes to age, the following findings were significant: in the afge group 18-24, the propensity for entrepreneurship is the lowest, while it wa the highest in the age group 35-44.
