Consciously living ‘swissness’ — Swatch Group
Many Swiss companies, both large corporations and small businesses, are internationally active. In order to be more successful, many of them use their swissness to their advantage. These companies consciously employ Central Swiss characteristics and values like the Swatch Group.
Since years the leading example of the embodiment of swissness has been the watchmaking conglomerate Swatch. With the release of its annual report for 2012, Swatch took swissness one step further by making the report available entirely in Swiss-German. The reason for this choice was the company’s strong identification with Switzerland. This “positive provocation”, as the president of the board of directors, Nayla Hayek, put it, should provoke Mr and Mrs. Swiss to think outside the box while also emphasizing their own core values.
