This is the third time that AXA Winterthur is giving away the AXA Innovation Award to an entrepreneur along with CHF 50,000 toward the starting capital. What are the reasons for your continued interest in this involvement.

Markus Keller: innovation is the central idea behind our market position, while innovative ideas also drive the economy. With the AXA Innovation Award we want to enable entrepreneurs to be able to take the step toward self-employment and, thus, in the long-run contribute to the advancement of the Swiss economy.

What are your expectations for this years award?

MK: The last two awards were very well received and had a significant turn-out; this year, we expect there to be another increase in the number of applicants. I am convinces that 2013 will also bring us exciting and valuable projects into the final round. The AXA Innovation Award should motivate innovative personalities to start their own company.

What kind of projects have an especially good chance of winning?

MK: As the title indicates, innovation is a crucial component. This  approach can be manifested in many different ways: anything from a new products to a re-purposing of an already existent product. Aside from the innovative aspect, there must also be enthusiasm on the side of the entrepreneur, as well as a well structured financial plan. In order to be able to win the awards, a good mix of all of these characteristics is necessary.

Does your business idea fulfill these criteria? Then don’t hesitate! Entrepreneurs from across Switzerland have the opportunity to submit their business plan in German, French, Italian, or English until 30 June 2013 at  www.swiss-startups-awards.ch.
