In January 2024, 4276 new companies were founded nationwide in Switzerland. The lively start to the new year represented an increase of 3.43% compared to the previous year and a decrease of 8.90% compared to the previous month of December.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Romandie region starts off strong<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In Romandie, there were 1196 new startups, allowing the region to score a 12.72 percentage point increase compared to January 2023, with a decrease of 7.79% compared to December 2023. In the canton of Vaud, 422 companies were founded, corresponding to a decrease of 2.99% compared to December 2023 and an increase of 4.46% compared to last January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eastern Switzerland presented 565 new companies, resulting in a change of -9.46% compared to the previous month and a gain of 1.25% compared to the previous year. A similar picture was seen in Northwestern Switzerland, with a loss of 7.46 percentage points compared to December 2023 and an increase of 3.31% compared to January of the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slight declines in Zurich and Ticino<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In Zurich, 766 new companies were registered in the commercial register, representing a slight decrease compared to the previous month, which was 3.40%. In January of the previous year, there were still 775 startups, resulting in a decrease of 1.16% compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, Ticino showed only a small change. There were 189 new companies founded, corresponding to a decrease of 3.57% compared to the previous month and 1.56% compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decline in Central Switzerland<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Central Switzerland recorded a particularly large decrease in January compared to the previous month, as it was 21.01%, resulting in 530 new companies being founded. Compared to January 2023, the region lost 3.81%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the canton of Zug, the strongest in terms of founding, there were 193 entries in the commercial register, representing a change of -19.58% compared to December 2023 and -18.22% compared to January 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outlook<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The number of company formations in January 2024, with a total of 4276, was 3.34% higher than the value of the previous January. Thus, the 4000-mark has been cracked, raising hopes for a strong founding year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
