In December 2022, 4,897 companies were founded in Switzerland. This represents an increase of 17.55 % compared to the previous month, but a decrease of 1.09 % compared to December 2021.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Advent season 2022 only brings limited joy to new entrepreneurs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The rather mild temperature in December led to a respectable end to the year in terms of new businesses. With 4897 new businesses, the figures of the previous month were exceeded by a good 17 %, but those of the previous year were not reached by about 1 %. Apart from Christmas, there is thus only limited reason to celebrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hangover in the whole of German-speaking Switzerland – with a few exceptions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Almost all regions had to cope with slight to strong declines compared to the previous year. The cantons of Zurich (-3.83 %), Zug (-6.25 %), St. Gallen (-21.99 %) and Bern (-0.71 %), which are significant for their respective regions, took some heavy hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basel-Landschaft – Messiah of Northwestern Switzerland<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the duel of the half-cantons, the Basel-Cities currently occupy the outsider role. They were narrowly outperformed due to a slight decline of -2.96 % compared to the previous month and a veritable final stretch by their cantonal neighbour (Basel-Landschaft +34.65 %). With an increase of 3.48 % compared to the previous year, Northwestern Switzerland is not entirely convincing, but the New Year’s Eve celebration was well deserved. With an increase of 5.23 %, the canton of Aargau contributed to this result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obwalden in the fast lane<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With a decrease of 5.04 % compared to the previous year, the Central Swiss are currently not able to continue their previous successes. In particular, the cantons of Lucerne (-6.56 %) and Schwyz (-7.53 %) could only partially live up to their role as the region’s driving force. In contrast, Christmas probably gave the people of Obwalden the necessary horsepower for the year-end stretch. The increase of 20.83 % compared to the previous year already deserves recognition. The increase of 81.25 % compared to the previous month, however, is masterful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Romandie convinces at the end of the year<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With an increase of 5.49 % compared to the previous year, the French-speaking part of Switzerland set the course for 2023. Both Geneva (+8.58 %) and Fribourg (+12.50 %) can take joint credit for this success. The canton of Jura was probably busy with other festivities due to its first-time entry into the Federal Council and presents a rather sad picture with a minus of 19.44 % at the end of the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
