You can find them on every street corner these days: remote working\nspaces. Not just startups are opting for flexible workplaces, but rather traditional\nswiss companies and international corporations are abandoning big offices in favor\nof remote working spaces as well. Now, why is this the case and what does the\nfuture of remote working look like?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are remote working spaces?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remote working is the term used to describe flexible working arrangements\nwhere employees are not permanently tied to certain office buildings. However,\nthis does not necessarily mean that they work from home, as is the case at the\nmoment due to the corona virus, rather more and more employees make use of so-called\nremote working spaces. The latter are office-like complexes that allow people to\nbook temporary workstations. The difference to conventional office buildings is\nthat employees from different companies can work in the same remote working\nspace and the employees are largely free to decide whether and when they want\nto use the workstations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the advantages of remote working?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest advantage of remote working spaces is the increased flexibility that the workplaces offer to employees. Thanks to remote working spaces, employees no longer have to kill time between meetings or client appointments at Starbucks but can complete pending work comfortably and productively at the booked workplace. Because many remote working spaces offer meeting rooms, relaxation zones and catering services in addition to workstations, employees can even save money by using them. While coffee and cakes in Starbucks need to be paid for out of the employees own pocket, are remote working spaces often offering catering services included in the workstation fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the disadvantages of remote working?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remote working is not for everyone. Whether it is because people are constantly walking in and out or because the feeling of having an “own” workspace is missing, not all people succeed in concentrating in remote working spaces. Moreover, an excellent IT infrastructure is required for people to be able to work at a temporary workplace. Only if employees can access all relevant documents with their laptop or cell phone does remote working make sense. Furthermore, flexible workplaces are not suited for some professions. While web designers can easily work from anywhere, lawyers who need to pore through binders full of sensitive documents often prefer to have their own office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does the future of remote working spaces look like?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trend is clear: remote working spaces are on the rise. While said development makes some people happy, others are rather critical towards flexible workspaces. However, it is highly likely that remote working spaces will become a permanent thing. Whether someone prefers a closed office or an open workplace, remote working spaces offer acceptable solutions for most employees due to differentiating designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
