In July 2020, the number of start-ups continues to rise. With a total of 4560 new companies founded, July 2020 has already broken last month’s record. Compared to June 2020, 76 more companies were founded (+1.69%) and also compared to July 2019, there is an increase of 452 new companies (+11%). <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What\nsummer slump?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, there is certainly no summer slump. The number of new companies is constantly rising. With a total of 4560 start-ups, July 2020 is now the month with the highest number of start-ups since 2013. This month, 76 start-ups more (+1.69%) were registered compared to June 2020. Compared to July of last year, there was an increase of 452 start-ups (+11%). The language regions can also report a predominantly positive balance. In German-speaking Switzerland there were 51 new companies (-1.69%) fewer than in the previous month. However, a positive picture is shown in French-speaking Switzerland (+95 start-ups or 7.42%) and Ticino (+32 start-ups or 17.78%). Compared to July 2019, all three language regions improved: German-speaking Switzerland by 343 new businesses (+13.04%), French-speaking Switzerland by 101 new businesses (+7.93%) and Ticino by 8 new businesses (+3.92%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Positive\ndevelopments in Ticino<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared\nwith June 2020, different developments can be seen in the cantons with usually\nstrong foundation numbers. While in the cantons of Bern (-107 start-ups and -22.53%)\nand Geneva (-11 start-ups and -2.89%) the number of start-ups has declined, the\ncantons of Aargau (+18 and +6. 36%), Lucerne (+13 start-ups or +6.81%), Ticino\n(+32 start-ups or +17.78%), Vaud (+31 start-ups or 7.09%), Zug (+28 start-ups\nor 13.33%) and Zurich (+23 start-ups or 3.05%) recorded increases. A comparison\nwith July 2019 shows a similarly uneven picture, with positive developments in\nthe cantons of Aargau (+15 start-ups and +5.24%), Bern (+63 start-ups and\n20.66%), Lucerne (+30 start-ups and +17.24%), Ticino (+8 start-ups and +3.92%),\nZug (+39 start-ups and +19.6%) and Zurich (+68 start-ups and 9.59%). On the\nother hand, the losers include the cantons of Geneva (-18 start-ups or -4.64%)\nand Vaud (-16 start-ups or -3.31%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the\nsmall cantons?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While\ncompared to July 2019, the number of start-ups in the cantons of Appenzell\nAusserrhoden (+18 start-ups or +75%) and Glarus (+4 start-ups or +36.36%) has\nrisen significantly, the canton of Uri (-2 start-ups or -16.67%) has recorded a\ndecline compared to the previous year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All in all, however, the corona low seems to have been overcome for the time being and the number of newly founded companies is higher than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
