The corona\nlow seems to have been overcome, at least for the time being. In June 2020, the\nnumber of newly founded firms reaches a new record with a total of 4484 new\ncompanies being founded. Compared to May 2020, 1165 more new companies were\nfounded (+35.10%) and compared to June 2019, there is an increase of 868 new\ncompanies (+24%). <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

New\nrecord<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the\nstart-up figures of the past two months were rather meagre, June 2020 surprises\nwith record figures. With 4484 start-ups, June 2020 is the month with the highest\nnumber of company foundations since STARTUPS.CH began recording data in January\n2013. 1165 more start-ups (+35.10%) were registered in comparison with May\n2020, and there was also an increase of 868 start-ups (+24%) compared with June\nlast year. A development that hardly anyone expected. It seems that young\nentrepreneurs are eager to get a fresh start after the crisis. This is good\nnews, considering that many businesses were forced to close due to the losses which\nresulted from the lockdown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Positive\ndevelopments in (almost) all cantons<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cantons of Zurich (+114 start-ups \/ 17.81%), Bern (+158 start-ups \/ 49.84%), Zug (+46 start-ups \/ 28.05%), Vaud (+148 start-ups \/ 51.21%) and Ticino (+46 start-ups \/ 34.33%) all record a massive increase in the number of start-ups compared with May 2020. If the current figures are compared with those of June of the previous year, a significant increase is also evident in the cantons of Zurich (+110 start-ups \/ 17.08%), Bern (+130 start-ups \/ 37.68%), Zug (+45 start-ups \/ 27.27%), Vaud (+93 start-ups \/ 27.03%) and Ticino (+22 start-ups \/ 13.92%). Only the Cantons of Glarus (-6 foundations \/ -31.58%), Jura (-1 foundations \/ -3.23%), Schaffhausen (-3 foundations \/ -9.09%) and Uri (-3 foundations \/ -20%) have recorded slight declines compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be interesting to see how the number of foundations will further develop this year. Never before have there been such strong fluctuations. It remains to be seen what influence the further handling of the corona virus and the associated economic measures will have on the number of start-ups.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
