In February 2017, a total of 3,552 new companies were entered in the commercial register. This is 40 fewer than for the same month last year \u2013 a decrease of 1.11%. But in comparison to the previous month, it represents a welcome growth of 7.54%.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Slight decline on previous year<\/strong><\/p>\n

In comparison to the previous year, new company registrations are down slightly by 1.11%. This can be partly attributed to the fact that February of the previous year saw a very strong increase, with 3,552 new registrations. The only language region to see an increase on February 2016 was Romandy, with new registrations up by 2.5%.<\/p>\n

Welcome increase on January 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

That Swiss entrepreneurship is once again flourishing can be seen from a comparison with the previous month, which shows an increase of 7.54%, or 249 new company registrations. The lowest increase was posted by German-speaking Switzerland with 4.31%, although with 2,276 new registrations it nonetheless accounted for 64.08% of new companies. Romandy saw an increase of 9.9% or 1,066 new registrations (30.01% of the total). The strongest increase was posted by the canton of Ticino with 39.07%. In comparison to the other language regions, Ticino’s 210 new registrations accounted for 5.91% of the total.<\/p>\n
