There was a strong performance in the number of new start-ups in February 2016 compared to the previous month of January. <\/strong>In total 3,592 new legal entities were entered into the commercial register. In comparison with the previous year, a total of 313 new registrations were recorded in the commercial register. This corresponds to a growth of 9.6% compared to February 2015.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Significant growth in February<\/strong><\/p>\n

In February 2016 a total of 3,592 new registrations were recorded in the commercial register of Switzerland. This corresponds to an increase of 14% compared to January. In comparison with February 2015 a strong growth of 9.6% was achieved. This strong growth is very encouraging, because it demonstrates that entrepreneurship in Switzerland is on the rise again.<\/p>\n

Growth in the German and French-speaking region of Switzerland<\/strong><\/p>\n

The German-speaking region recorded a growth of 10.9% compared to the previous year. In the German-speaking region the market share of Switzerland is 64.6%. The French-speaking region of Switzerland also recorded a strong growth of 10.4% and a market share of about 29% of all start-ups. The Italian-speaking region recorded a decrease of 5.3% compared to the previous year and has a market share of 6.4% in Switzerland. However, the Italian-speaking region has the smallest population in Switzerland and it is therefore not surprising that there are less new foundings.<\/p>\n

Cantons with the highest numbers of new ventures<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many larger cantons with a great number of new ventures also recorded an increase compared to the previous year. The canton of Zurich exhibited a growth of 14.9%. Other very strong German-speaking cantons were Zug (41.7 %), Bern (17.9 %) and Graub\u00fcnden (31%). The strong Lake of Geneva region with the canton Vaud (26.1%) and Geneva (10.2%) recorded an excellent increase. The growth of the other cantons can be seen in the following graph.<\/p>\n
