Mr Dal Corso, as founder and CEO of the Dal Corso Group, specialized in Business Development and Growth, you have advised countless companies, organizations and employees worldwide. On 8 October you will lead the course “Business Growth Strategy – For Business Owners, Leaders & Entrepreneurs” in Zurich. What can participants expect?

Clearly this is not for everyone, nor is it meant to be. However, if you’re in business for yourself, you want to transform your business or you want to increase your income this year, you know this is for you. Learn proven advance techniques that produce consistent results, whiling having fun.

You were born and raised in South Africa with an Italian heritage. How did you come to found your company in Switzerland?

Today Zürich is one of the unstoppable growth hubs of European entrepreneurship. It wasn’t always this way, what you might not know is that, there has never been a better time than now to start living your dream, doing more of what you love, while impacting the world. Zürich is filled with like-minded, creative and innovative people, entrepreneurs who want to lead change, drive growth and delivery results for themselves, their teams and their families. Zürich has an entrepreneurial vibe that you don’t want to miss out on. Zürich is one of the top entrepreneurial cities globally, with the `Made in Switzerland` brand. It’s hard to find a better place to start and grow your business today.

You’re currently in South Africa on business. In your opinion, how does the startup scene in South Africa differ from the startup scene in Switzerland?

The two scenes have their complexities, challenges and unique opportunities, the major mistake that most new business owners make is the same, regardless of industry or country. Having had the opportunity to work with business owners, business leaders on both continents, I have worked with great people, talented people, gifted people, good at what they do with great products and great ideas just holding themselves back, we all have fears, we all have concerns, so many of us completely undervalue ourselves, completely worry about what other people think about us, so many of us are so concerned about getting things wrong not being perfect, waiting for the right moment whatever those excuses are that you have, let make sure that we just move past those excuses, let’s not wait for us to be perfect, take some risks and do something different, execute on your ideas, just get things going and get perfect later, I would rather that we all fail forward and do something rather than just not doing nothing. What are you going to do different this week? or are you going to let your limitations, your fears, your concerns hold you back or are you going to do something differently?

Our classic final question: What would you advise our young entrepreneurs who have just founded their first own company via STARTUPS.CH?

The biggest challenge in starting or growing any business is usually the mindset of the owner. 80 % of success in business is the mindset of the owner and only 20 % is the mechanics of the business. A business is a reflection of the owner, a business grows at the rate that you grow at. Success in business requires enormous focus, courage and flexibility. Become a master of the art of taking action, even the wrong, imperfect action is better, than no action.  To be effective you need clarity, vision and the ability to execute consistently on the right strategies. Know your “why”, the “What” and the “How”, shift from knowing to doing. Learn from people, businesses owners who have made mistakes. And remember a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt – “Learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself”, as a business owner time is your most precious resource, not your money, use your money to buy more time.

Thank you very much for the interview.
