How do I establish the name of my sole proprietorship?
The name of a sole proprietorship has to be composed of the owner’s family name, with or without the given name. Preferably, the given name should be written in full. Therefore, “Sarah Sample” would be better than “S. Sample”. Fancy names or technical names amending one’s family name are also allowed. Especially the latter are advisable. Names like “Sarah Sample Design” or “Sarah Sample Fashion” give outsiders a concrete idea of the business.
To avoid deceit, the sole proprietorship’s name must not allude to a corporate relationship. So it wouldn’t be possible to call the business “Fashion Company Sample”.
